Carnival Time!
An intercollegiate carnival with the elderly held at our Home on September 23rd drew 14 student volunteers representing four colleges and universities. The forecast of an 80% chance of rain for the entire afternoon never materialized, and sunshine was provided in abundance by both young and old as they enjoyed one another’s friendship under a big carnival tent amidst games, clown entertainment, snacks of fried dough and cotton candy, and—a big attraction!–the dunk tank.
Bonds clearly being forged between the college students and our Residents brought to mind the words of our Holy Father spoken to our Mother General and her small delegation of Little Sisters and Residents when they visited him in recent years: “Bring the elderly and the young together,” he had told them, “and you will see that good things will happen.”
Please enjoy these photos of the fun—and don’t miss the video at the end!
