Mother Genevieve celebrated her Golden Jubilee on Saturday, May 27.
The Jubilee opened the day before with a special song to the Blessed Mother. This was the song that Mother loved and was sung when she made her vows. There were lots of Little Sisters present including Mother Provincial Alice.
The day of the Big Mass was awesome. Father Mark Cregan was the Principal Celebrant, a friend of Mother’s since he was a little boy. She was surrounded by 50 Little Sisters, as well as members of her family: her sister, sister-in-law, niece, nephew and great nephew. They were so happy to be present for this great occasion.
After a wonderful dinner and a very special cake with the picture of Salve Regina on it (her theme). The Sisters then visited with each other, and enjoyed the gardens recently renovated.
For dinner the Sisters and Mother Genevieve’s family were invited to High Meadows Resort, where one of our volunteers is the manager. To our surprise, when we got out of the van there was music playing, and inside a fireplace lit to add to the ambiance. Also there was a special set up for appetizers, and a carving station where a chef carved the meat, and one for special desserts with all kinds of ice cream. Nothing was lacking and the Sisters even enjoyed a badminton game. It ended with night prayers and everyone said, “What a beautiful night and we were so grateful to Joanne for going all out for Mother’s Jubilee.”
