Corpus Christi
The church’s tradition has blessed us with the opportunity for a Eucharistic Procession on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. As one priest said, “Theologically, processions remind us that we are pilgrims journeying through this earthly existence following Jesus on “the Way.” In Eucharistic Processions, we publicly witness to our faith and love for the Blessed Sacrament and to share the graces of His Eucharistic presence with our communities.
On June 19, the Feast of Corpus Christi, we opened the National Eucharistic Revival with our Residents! Our Chaplain Father Robert J. Rousseau presided at a Eucharistic Procession through the house. We began in the Chapel, then processed together through the house, stopping at beautiful homemade altars on Lourdes, Sacred Heart, and Holy Family Units. Residents and Sisters had been busy for days, preparing their unique altars where the Blessed Sacrament would repose during Benediction.
Meanwhile, for those who preferred to continue praying in the Chapel, the Recitation of the Rosary took place. After our last stop, we returned to the Chapel for a half hour of quiet adoration, Vespers, and a final Benediction.
It was a peaceful, grace-filled afternoon for the whole house. During the following days, everyone continued expressing their gratitude for the experience, especially for the fact that Residents, Sisters, and Staff were all gathered in prayer.
May we all continue to “praise, adore and love the Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, in all the tabernacles of the world, at every moment, even until the end of time”!
