The Feast of St. Nick is always very special at St. Joseph Residence. It is a time the Sisters put gifts out that were saved throughout the year. These gifts are then given to the residents to purchase with “play money” for their families. $250.00 worth of “play money” was given to each resident. St. Joseph Hall was set up with 8 foot long tables loaded up with merchandise for the residents to purchase for their families and friends.
Some residents came with lists of who they wanted to buy for. Another resident had a list of what she wanted for herself. Doors were opened and the sale began.
There were a lot of happy faces asking for change from each purchase, so they could get everything they wanted at the best bang for their buck so to speak. One resident brought a gift back and wanted a refund. So funny!
The gloves and dried arrangements were the most popular items sold. The residents then went to the coffee shop where the youth and volunteers helped wrap presents.
This is what Christmas sharing is all about. Such a wonderful time was had by all.
The Sisters are already busy gathering items for next year’s St. Nick Sale.
