World Day for Grandparents

  • July 28, 2021
World Day for Grandparents

Pope Francis declared the first time ever celebration for Grandparents and the Elderly.

We displayed a beautiful banner at the entrance way to the Home. It includes a picture of St. Ann & St. Joachim. On either side, of the photo we have the Hand prints of many of the elderly here in the Home. The banner reads “The elderly are the privileged witnesses of God’s faithful love.” We are so happy the Holy Father celebrated this day and look forward to next year’s celebration.

St. Joseph’s Residence was ready to celebrate all of the grandparents here in the Home. We had a beautiful Mass with an inspiring homily from Fr. Rousseau. We are so proud of our grandparents here in the Home. Many of our Residents are even great grandparents.

Dinner was illuminated with a special display of Fireworks. One of the family members whose mother was here in our Home donated the fireworks and set them off for us. Everyone really enjoyed the show. We videotaped it so that we could share it with anyone who wasn’t able to make it. Our pool little dog Toby, did not like the fireworks as they were too loud for him.
